Residential & Community Access Support Worker

Phoenix Place Inc needs you now! Due to an increase in the number of people we support, we are offering an exciting opportunity for the right candidate who will be supporting our participants residing in Supported Independent Living (SIL) housing & within the Mackay community. 

We are currently looking at employing several  experienced Disability Support Workers on a 24/7 rostering system with permanent/part-time & casual options available.. 

People who can work any shift in a 7-day period are strongly encouraged to apply.  

As a Residential Support Worker, you will deliver a variety of services to participants to support them to live a fulfilling and meaningful life and to develop independent living skills in everyday life in their shared living environment. This includes providing assistance with all aspects of daily living including meals, personal care, domestic activities and varying skill development activities

As a Community Mentor Support Worker your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and building participants capacity:

  • With their independent living skills such as cooking, household chores and social skills

  • Guiding participants to explore and develop their personal interests/hobbies.

  • Maintaining participants dignity in all areas of their care needs.

  • The ability to comply consistently with policies and procedures, and occupational health and safety obligations

  • Adherence to Individual Support Plans and Behavior Support Plans where applicable. 

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including well-developed written and verbal communication skills, conflict resolution, negotiation, and problem-solving

  • Completing clear, concise, and factual shift notes and incident/near miss reports.

  • Be resilient and able to manage challenging situations.

  • Be proactive and think creatively.

  • A strong ability to work effectively without supervision, as well as part of a team and build strong relationships.

  • Be committed to honoring your availability and be reliable - our participants depend on you!

  • Be committed to a variety of different shifts, including overnight, weekends and public holidays.

As an Admin Assistant your responsibilities will include:

  • Answer phone inquiries using a professional and courteous manner

  • Direct phone inquiries to the appropriate staff members

  • Reply to routine information requests with accurate information

  • Ensure organization compliance with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards framework.

  • Maintain internal audit documents and compliance documentation.

  • Preparing reports and maintaining records of legal compliance concerns.

  • Participating in external audits.

  • Perform internal audits and establish a schedule for internal audits.

  • Conduct debriefing meetings on the findings of the internal audits with relevant parties.

  • Assist in the process of external audits including preparation of information for the audit and liaising with external auditors.

  • Maintain staff, vehicle, office compliance in relevant data bases.

  • Any other quality and compliance tasks as requested by management.

  • Use Microsoft Office and data base software

  • Provide administrative support to staff

  • Work closely with external and internal stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the participant and organisation.

  • Keep up to date with the filing of documentation and records

  • Monitor the quality and quantity of stationery and office supplies
